Ronald McDonald House Celebrity Adventure Challenge

What’s it all about?

It’s about challenging myself to change lives.

I’m one of ten people in NSW who have been chosen to participate in a celebrity adventure fundraising challenge for Ronald McDonald House. It’s part of a TV series produced by Life Changing Adventures TV and will be screened nationally on Channel 7 in 2016. The show will feature celebrity host, Ricki-Lee and ten participants. But to qualify, we must individually raise $15,000.00 for the charity by September 2015.10369082_652978531437901_6417239436687717064_o

We will then be taken away to an unknown destination with the celebrity for a week of mystery and adventure, where we will complete a range of sponsored challenges and team building activities, all in the name of charity. personal boundaries will be pushed to the limit, but our efforts will be rewarded with donations from high profile sponsors!

My Connection with Ronald McDonald House

A good friend once told me he thought that I had Obsessive, Compulsive Fundraising Disorder… I laughed when I heard this, but on reflection, I reckon he’s spot on.

The past ten years have seen me become involved with many charities in the Hunter region, including Ronald McDonald House. Volunteering, fundraising and generally helping to create awareness in the community of the vital services they all provide are all ways that I feel I can help others and ‘give back’ to the world.download

My connection with Ronald McDonald House stems from the personal experience of losing my first daughter, Jessica in 1987. After spending four months sitting in an intensive care nursery for premature babies in Far North Queensland, I discovered very quickly, the importance of having stability in your life when you’re dealing with a sick child. Fortunately for me, I lived close by to the hospital, but many other parents weren’t so lucky. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how traumatic it would be to be torn away from your home base and thrust into a world of medical mayhem. Ronald McDonald House is truly a home away from home for many. When our Jessica lost her battle for life, I vowed to one day to help others and for the past ten years, this has become my mantra. It’s what gets me out of bed every day. You can read my personal story here:

How Can You Help?

In order for me to participate in this life changing adventure, I need to raise $15,000.00 in a few short months. It’s no small feat and I’m hopeful that corporate organisations, manufacturing and construction companies, small businesses and individuals might be interested in getting on board with this challenge!

As there are already a number of high profile sponsors on board for the actual filming, the shirt I will be wearing is already covered in logos…however I do have ONE sleeve available for $5,000.00 should any organisation wish to see their name on national TV!
